Mouthguards

Occlusal guards (Nightguards)

Occlusal guards (Nightguards) are recommended for anyone with evidence of bruxism or ‘clenching and grinding of their teeth. Evidence of bruxism includes chipped teeth, worn teeth, abfraction lesions or notches in the teeth close to the gum line, cheek biting, and tongue scalloping. It has been estimated that 40% of the adult population clenches and grinds their teeth while sleeping. Bruxism left untreated can lead to neck and shoulder pain, headaches, muscle soreness, tooth sensitivity, tooth wear, tooth fracture, and even tooth loss.

Sports Mouth Guards

Custom sports guards and mouthguards have various functions. They serve to protect teeth from unwanted fractures and have the ability to reduce concussion severity while giving additional protection to the jaws from traumatic blows. They are custom-made to provide a more stable and comfortable fit. A mouthguard is recommended for anyone involved in contact sports, martial arts, and weightlifting.
